Developed in 1983 to meet the evolving requirements of the Ministry of Defence, the CWC RN Quartz Diver marked a defining moment in the evolution of Britain's military dive watches. Retaining the proven design established in 1980, it introduced Swiss quartz technology to deliver greater accuracy, enhanced reliability and reduced maintenance for operational service.
Some watches embraced new technology.
This one changed military timekeeping.
The transition to quartz represented the most significant technological advancement in the history of the Royal Navy Diver. While its movement changed, its purpose did not. Engineered to the same uncompromising military standards as its mechanical predecessors, it combined proven military design with the precision and dependability demanded by operational service.
For decades, the RN Quartz Diver served Royal Navy divers, becoming one of Britain's longest-serving military-issued dive watches.
While materials, manufacturing and technology have evolved, its purpose has not.
The current RN Quartz remains faithful to the original military specification, combining proven design with modern Swiss manufacturing, sapphire crystal and contemporary luminous materials.
This is not a tribute.
It is the latest evolution of one of Britain's most historically significant military-issued dive watches.

The watch is beautiful.
The watch is beautiful. However, as a collector I was not entirely happy when I found a dent on the left side and scratches on the lower right side of the case when unboxing.
As always excellent service from CWC / Silvermans.
DHL on the other hand said they had triend to deliver the item which wasnt the case. I therefore had to travel to a DHL depot to pick up the item which incurred taxi costs whilst at work. Would rather Royal Mail was used as in the past.
Stunning watch. Oozes quality, excellent finish and beautiful vintage styling. I have many admiring comments. I love the look, but it can actually do the business too. An excellent tool watch. I was concerned about the cost versus quality, but that was put to rest on opening the box for the first time.
This watch is stunning. It’s everything you would expect from CWC. I’ve finally found a watch to fit perfectly on my original steel grey strap which l bought in 1977 when serving onboard a ship in the Royal Navy.
This is my third CWC quartz diver — after the SBS and the RN, here comes the 1983. What a stunning watch! It just radiates quality. These days, my automatics hardly ever see the light of day. The workmanship is outstanding, the lume is spot on and lasts all night. Forget the knockoffs and go for the real deal: CWC.
