This one-of-a-kind watch honours Britain's wartime heritage as only we can.
To celebrate the milestone 50th anniversary of Cabot Watch Company, we present a very special watch - the Cabot Fifty.
The Cabot Fifty takes the British military watch to a new level using original World War II artefacts and twenty-first century British ingenuity and know-how to create an incredible timepiece. It is a fitting way to honour Ray Mellor's wartime service, Silvermans' wartime history, and to commemorate CWC's 50th anniversary.
We have recycled the brass taken from WWII British military webbing parts, supplied by Silvermans Ltd., which include belts, packs, basic pouches, canteen carriers, entrenching tool carriers, and other straps and harnesses that made up the British military 1937 webbing kit, to produce a ‘WWW’ watch.
Thus the Cabot Fifty was born, a timepiece inspired by the so called 'Dirty Dozen' WWW - watches worn by our soldiers in World War II, crafted out of the fires of battle, into the fires of a furnace in England, and machined and crafted into one of the most unique pieces of British military watchmaking history. Uniquely British with authentic history and provenance.
The brass fittings have been melted into bars and then hand machined - all in England - to make the case and case back. The dial and hands are also made in England. The movement is the reliable and proven Elabore Swiss Sellita SW216-1 calibre, with hand-winding and hacking capability.
The Cabot Fifty stays true to the WWW 'Dirty Dozen' dimensions: 38mm including crown, designed for wearability, durability and unobtrusiveness. Legible at a glance in the heat of battle.
The Cabot Fifty strap is an appropriate finishing touch to this timepiece, made in England using material from the original World War II denison parachute smocks that were worn by paratroopers dropped into enemy territory in Europe. The smocks are incredibly valuable wartime relics, and again are a testament to the British manufacturing of the day, creating a strap that could only be described as the perfect companion to the Cabot Fifty watch. (See here for more info on the strap.)
